Ultra IGP Mokhlesur Rahman received the Global Champion recognition


Bangladesh Police Additional IGP (Administration and Operations) said. Mokhlesur Rahman, BPM (Bar) has been nominated as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) champion for his unique contribution to prevent violence against women and girls.

UNFPA nominated 16 people from 16 countries across the world for their outstanding contribution in preventing torture against women and girls. Additional IGP Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman has been nominated from Bangladesh.

A professional police officer, Mokhlesur Rahman, has contributed immensely to prevent gender-based torture in his long career. He has been conducting public awareness programs such as gender-based violence, child marriage, women's oppression etc. for the past many years. In this context, UNFPA involved him with their activities. She has been working closely with the UNFPA program since 2015 to prevent violence against women and girls. He is a consultant of the Gender Based Violence, supported by the United Nations Population Fund. On his advice, 'Women Help Desk' was established as a pilot project with UNFPA support in 15 police stations of the country. He is the proponent of building policing for the poor.

It is to be noted that the 'Women's Assistance Desk' has given special importance to the complaints of women and girls of the victims of torture and strict secrecy is maintained in this case. In Asia, Bangladesh has introduced 'Women Assistance Desk' in different police stations of the country.
